Events and awards include: LOOKS AWARDS i.e., “Smallest”, “Largest”, “Waggiest Tail”, “Best Dressed”, “Most Fitting Name”, “Dog most like it’s owner in looks/behavior” ( and more!!), TRICKS AWARDS i.e., “Fetch, Roll Over, Beg, Catch a Frisbee” etc., BEST IN SHOW AWARD, CANINE EGG & SPOON RACE, and ESSAY CONTEST “How I Adopted My Dog”. (Essay entries must be 250 words, or less, and are due to the judges table by 10:30am.
There will be a grand march before the judges table for a quick look at the Smallest, Largest, Furriest, Waggiest Tail, Wettest Nose, Best Dressed, Best Smile, Most Fitting Name, Dog Most Like it’s Owner in Looks and/or Behavior, “The Puppy That Would Make You Want One”, and Funniest, etc. Next, the owners that wish to, they will bring up their dogs to show “obedience” – owner’s choice of heel, come, stay, speak, etc. Then “tricks” – fetch, roll over, beg, catch a Frisbee, or whatever they wish to do (children handlers are especially endearing, especially when they can’t get their dogs to do their tricks!) We conclude with “Best in Show” – one that best exemplifies the spirit of the community in appearance and behavior (this could very well be a scruffy-looking dog of uncertain breed!) Remember, this event is for fun and goodwill! There will also be a hilarious canine egg and spoon race, and an essay contest for “How I Adopted My Dog”. A special team of judges will award the best story winner with a Portrait of their dog by our own portrait artist, Jami Potter! Admission is free to what's promised to be a fun-filled afternoon, as Pinson UMC goes to the dogs! (Check for more information in next weeks TPNCT)
